It's time to turn up the heat and get hipped to the hottest show ofthe summer, now in production at The Crucible. After years of
producing the spectacular outdoor Fire Arts Festival, The Crucible is moving its annual homage to fire indoors – into our 56,000 square-foot industrial arts studio, which for three days will be transformed into a jazz era fire speakeasy.
In the place of the outdoor festival, this July 15-17 we present our
first ever Fire Cabaret. It’s an intimate evening of music, drinking,dancing, and illicit fire, with seductive performances from the denizens of HEAT, a place where the masses gather to experience forbidden fire. The Crucible’s studio space will be transformed into a searing underground haven where fantasy and fire converge with sultry music and industrial machinery.
Some of the best talent in the Bay Area will perform amidst artisans
plying their fiery trades, and guests will be invited to explore a
speakeasy alight with furnaces, forges and flames. Kim Nalley,
internationally known as one of world's best jazz and blues vocalists with her beguiling combination sass, soul and smarts is the reigning diva of HEAT: A Fire Cabaret. The aerial artistry of Scarlett & Axelrod, the athleticism of McCown & Xiao Hong, plus featured performances by Gravity Plays Favorites and more unique performers ensure a hot and spicy evening of entertainment.
“We are excited to present for the first time, theatrical
demonstrations that truly melt the boundary between the industrial
arts and entertainment,” says Founder/Creative Director, Michael
Sturtz. “Visitors can experience all the lost arts that The Crucible
teaches intermixed with hot performances to make the demos extra hot. Where else would you find ARC welding flash dancing, blacksmithing, fire drumming, MIG welding striptease, glass flameworking contortion,torch cutting burlesque, TIG welding aerial acts?”
