Heart Sutra Retreat

Description

The "Heart Sutra" is one of the most famous and revered of the Buddha's teachings. This profound teaching on Emptiness is revealed through a dialogue between two of the Buddha's main disciples, Avalokiteshvara and Shariputra.
It contains the very essence of all the Buddha's teachings. By understanding the meaning of Emptiness, or how things actually exist in our world, instead of how we usually perceive them, we can learn to let go of harmful, negative emotions and cultivate our marvelous potential for clarity and contentment of mind and deepen our compassion as well as the many other qualities that are innate within us.
Reciting the "Heart Sutra" is often recommended by the lamas for gaining wisdom and removing obstacles in our lives.
The retreat will be lead by Venerable Robina. Hailing from Australia, she has been an ordained Buddhist nun since the 1970's. She has served as the Editorial Director of Wisdom Publications and "Mandala Magazine" and currently teaches Buddhism around the world.
The retreat begins at 4pm on January 11 and ends at 1:30 on January 18
