De Anza College's Associated Student Body and the Herb Patnoe Jazz Trust are proud to present Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band in their first-ever live concert appearance in the Bay Area! The 18-piece Big Phat Band is at the peak of its fame as one of the most exciting and entertaining big bands on the planet. Their roster of many of L.A.’s finest session musicians, performing Gordon’s witty, intricate and swinging compositions and arrangements, powers the band’s extremely hip, original and contemporary sound. Four Grammy-nominated CDs have also contributing to making Gordon’s music a virtual staple in the repertoire of high school and collegiate jazz bands across the country. Opening the evening will be De Anza College’s highly respected Eight O’Clock Daddios Jazz Ensemble, directed by Steve Tyler, and their award-winning vocal jazz group Vocal Flight, directed by Michelle Hawkins.More Info
