Description

The self-described "rural folk piano" player George Winston prefers the quiet tones of acoustic piano to all the hullabaloo of electric organs, guitars, drums, and all the other instruments adopted by most contemporary instrumentalists. Finding inspiration in the music of Fats Waller and Teddy Wilson, Winston moves from classic jazz to R&B and neo-classical styles seamlessly, using his piano as a paintbrush to create impressionistic pieces built with graceful ambiance. Originally hailing from Montana, Winston now resides in the artist's enclave known as Santa Cruz, CA, where he penned his last release, 2006's Gulf Coast Blues & Impressions- A Hurricane Relief Benefit.
