Description
Artists and close friends Amy Ruppel and Lisa Congdon share many loves—and perhaps the greatest of those is their love for animals. Both Amy and Lisa have been painting animals for the majority of their respective art careers, and so when they decided to create a joint body of work, the subject matter became obvious. Gently by the Horns is an homage to a favorite animal group for both women: the cloven hoofed, horned, furry creatures that belong to the family Bovidae. Each artist chose 5 different Bovids to render in her own style, including the Yak, Duiker, Bongo and Chamois. The installation will also include horns and antlers from the collections of the artists and a fake fur chandelier created by the pair.
