Vessel presents
FUNK FARM
FUNKAGENDA
KIM FAI
Super star DJ Funkagenda brings his Funk Farm records to San Francisco for the very first time, marking yet another exclusive for Vessel. As if that wasn’t enough, to make this landmark affair that little bit more special he brings with him label mate, Kim Fai over from the UK to make his debut with us.
To say this is a highly anticipated affair comes as somewhat of an understatement, his last show with us was a sell out and that was on a Thursday night. This time he comes to us on a Friday night, to take over the whole club, as his imprint Funk Farm splashes into the Bay for an intimate affair as a little bit of UK house rules SF for one night only.
Started in 2010 with a mission to drive the progressive end of dance music. Funk Farm’s sound is reflective of the eclecticism of its founder and aims to encompass everything across the spectrum of tech-house, techno, house and trance. Musical innovation and integrity is the name of the Funk Farm game, with this philosophy leading the label onto hold residencies at London’s Ministry of Sound, Miami and LA with it once taking over NYC’s clubbing Mecca that is Pacha.
Funkagenda himself is an artist that should need no introduction to any self respecting house follower. From the early roots of his West Midland’s studio in the UK, to pioneering releases through reputed major labels, Funkagenda’s stamp on dance music can be felt across Europe, North, Central & South America, the Middle East, Australia, Russia and Japan. A devoted passion for music, alongside an embrace of technology, has fortified Funkagenda as a vanguard of the ‘tough but melodic big room house sound’ – (quote - DJ Magazine).
Originally championed by Positiva, Subliminal, Defected, Azuli and Big Love, Funkagenda is now creative commander of Funk Farm, as well as being a key member of the iconic Toolroom Records. The Funkagenda/Mark Knight partnership has become a formidable force across international territories. Which of course spawned one of the biggest house tracks of the decade, with 2008’s ‘Man with the Red Face’ smash.
Along with Funkagenda comes Kim Fai, to play Vessel for the very first time. A staple in the European club circuit, this is a very rare chance to catch him on these shores. Held in high regard by the DJ elite, numerous artists have spoken out about this rising talent:
“Kim Fai is set to be a star of the future, his tracks feature in all of my sets. A true ‘Leader of the New School’!” Mark Knight
“He could be the next House Mafia with AN21 & Max Vangeli.” Pete Tong
“I love this kid! He’s making some great tracks at the moment.” Steve Angello
So on Friday October 12th, Vessel goes all out with two of the most exciting names in house music as Funk Farm records has it’s first ever outing in San Francisco. Save the date, this will be a night to remember.
