Description

FundRaiser For The Northern California Women’s Music Festival

A ‘call to action’ for those interested in seeing a 2009 Northern California Women’s Music Festival. The festival has lost its previous funding source and the core team is working to raise enough money and awareness within the community to see it through for 2009 and beyond.

Come join us
It’s the first weekend after the election! We will be celebrating out on the patio with Live Music from 3-8pm. Come early and bring a friend. Musical performances by:

Wildsang-Blues Duo
WILDSANG is currently blowing the top off the Blues community with the sheer force and intensity of their music and message. It has been a long while since anyone has climbed inside a blues song and come out the other side the way WILDSANG does. Hillary Kay (vocals, guitar) and Kate Freeman (harmonica) hail from New Mexico, but their music is rooted deep in the sounds of the Mississippi Delta and the Piedmont Plateau, helping to keep the tradition alive. You can almost hear these two souls hanging in the balance on every note.

Duval Speck- Jazzy/soul/folk-rock Duo
a unique blend of musical magic...the regional favorites are known for memorable original songs that span a wide range of diverse territory (and) for their humorous stage presence and innovative musicianship... with daring, refined, sophisticated vocal harmonies and the sound of an exquisite, unique guitar style...Duval Speck, well known to local audiences, has been regarded as Davis' most enjoyable folk duo for years ... Listening to them perform, it doesn't take long to appreciate that the depth of their music, and the scope of their lyrics, range far beyond traditional folk-fodder." The Davis Enterprise

Marianne Barlow-Folk Singer/Songwriter
"Marianne Barlow's music speaks of beauty and depth. She weaves haunting emotional and personal lyrics with strong melodies and rhythms to create some real gems. This is only the beginning..."
--Christine Kane, singer-songwriter

"Summer-Heaven"
Kari "Samantha Summers" McAllister and
Holly Heaven
Folksy, pop-rock styled originals with strong intertwining vocals that will leave you jumping out of
your seats begging for more. Holly Heaven is the former lead for the LA band Holly Heaven & The Issue.
Samantha Summers is a veteran Bay Area player, formerly with Trans Central Station as well as The Average Dyke Band. Her new music is found at http://myspace.com/SamanthaSummerstheSweetspots
