RayKo is proud to present a the work of Lucia Ganieva, a designer turned photographer who was born in Russia, and though living in the Netherlands, travels back frequently to document her homeland. She not only journeys to St. Petersburg to photograph the attendants at the Hermitage (Ermitazhniki) next to paintings that they bear a striking resemblance to, but Lucia also journeys to small villages deep in the rural areas of Russia. There she has made a series of photographs of Iron Mules. My friend from Cuba looked at them and said, “Oh, everyone in Cuba has one of these…” But I have never seen one. No one else I know has seen one…and now they will be shown at RayKo Photo Center’s gallery. Curious? Come see the Iron Mules as well as some other unique images from a country on the other side of the earth. And just in time for the 22nd Annual Russian Festival in San Francisco!
