Description

American citizenship provides many privileges and protections: the right to vote, security against deportation, ability to bring more family to the U.S., increased job opportunities and more. Register to get trusted help completing your citizenship application at the San Jose Public Library, Alum Rock Branch.

Event details:
At this workshop, immigration specialists from the International Rescue Committee (IRC) will explain citizenship eligibility requirements and exemptions, complete and submit your naturalization application (N-400) and file fee waivers on your behalf, if applicable. Afterwards and throughout the entire naturalization process, IRC's staff will follow-up with the status of your case and serve as your representative with USCIS.

What do I need to bring with me?
1. Your permanent resident card (green card)
2. Court dispositions relating to any arrest, police, court or immigration contact
3. Payment to “US Department of Homeland Security" or if you receive public benefits (food stamps, Medi-Cal, SSI), bring proof of that for a possible USCIS fee waiver or reduced fee
4. Information and addresses for your family (including spouse, ex spouses, children, mother and father) and home addresses & employment information from the last 5 years
