Late in the 18th century and late in his life, Haydn took two entire years to transform a unique libretto into his masterpiece, The Creation.Wildly popular from its premiere in 1798, The Creation is a litany of praise that paints an intricate and melodious day-to-day picture of the creation of the world, taking the audience from darkness and chaos through to Adam and Eve's awe-struck experiences in the Garden of Eden.
All of Europe, including Ludwig van Beethoven, who attended a performance in Vienna, adored this work, and it is still one of the choral world's most treasured masterworks.
