Description
Hammer Theatre Center presents the National Theatre Live screening of the thrilling, sold-out production of "Frankenstein," returning to international screens to mark the 200th anniversary of Mary Shelley’s most famous novel. Directed by Academy Award-winner Danny Boyle ("Trainspotting," "Slumdog Millionaire"), "Frankenstein" features Benedict Cumberbatch ("Hamlet," BBC’s "Sherlock," "The Imitation Game," "Doctor Strange") and Jonny Lee Miller ("Elementary," "Trainspotting") alternating between the roles of Victor Frankenstein and his creation. Childlike in his innocence but grotesque in form, Frankenstein’s bewildered creature is cast out into a hostile universe by his horror-struck maker. Meeting with cruelty wherever he goes, the increasingly desperate and vengeful Creature determines to track down his creator and strike a terrifying deal. The production of the thrilling and deeply disturbing classic tale was hailed as “brilliant” by "The New York Times" and “sensational” by "The Guardian." The 2:00pm screening will feature Miller as Victor Frankenstein and Cumberbatch as Creature, with the roles switched in the 6:00pm screening.Audiences will be viewing a high-definition screening of the acclaimed London stage production captured live at London’s National Theatre.
