Description

WORKSHOP:
Food for Thought with Julie Seltzer

Torah scribe Julie Seltzer, who is writing a complete Torah in the galleries of the Museum as part of the exhibition As it is Written: Project 304, 805, will demonstrate the connections between food and text by combining a personal tour of her scribal workshop with Torah study and a session baking traditional hamentashen cookies.

Before becoming a scribe, or soferet, Julie Seltzer was a baker at the Isabella Friedman Center in Connecticut. Among her culinary achievements was a series of challah breads evoking Hebrew letters, or a theme from the weekly Torah reading.

Seltzer’s other Food for Thought programs include matzhas on March 21.
