Watch a movie, sip on chai (or grab some beer!) and chat with film makers as they share their experience of making the movie. Have a fun weekend AND help educate a kid somewhere in India!

Confused?? Here's how you can do all the above at the same time! Asha for Education (AfE), San Francisco presents its Annual Film Festival on Aug 18th and 19th this year. This year it is the "Film Festival of HOPE" and the line up includes a select medley of internationally acclaimed, award winning off- beat independent movies, documentaries and shorts by filmmakers around the world.

Catch "Deool" (The Temple), an award winning film that humorously but incisively addresses the tussle between modernization and commercialization and its effects on a community.

Participate in a young boy's thrilling quest to conquer Kali -the rouge kite in "Gattu". Check out the well told and funny satire "The Greater Elephant" and stay for a Q&A with filmmaker.

For an hour of variety, come for the shorts collection with award winning "Little Terrorist" and stay for an heartfelt documentary "Roots of Love" and get a chance to talk with filmmaker Harjant Gill as he tells all about the Sikh tradition of wearing a turban!

Based on the true story of world super model Waris Dirie, "Desert Flower" is our Spotlight on Africa brought to us by National Geographic.

There is a special segment for kids too, featuring "The Peace Tree". Following the movie, kids will have a chance to explore the Peace concept through a simple art project as they put together a peace symbol. No booking is required for kids under 12yrs!

There will be food, beer and wine at the venue too. Suffice to say, there will be something for everyone so get your friends and family and head to Genentech Hall, UCSF Mission Bay campus for a fun weekend.

Every dollar we raise over the festival costs will go towards grassroots organizations in India to help educate a child in need. About Asha for Education: AfE is a 501(c)(3) certified nonprofit organization. AfE SF chapter raises awareness and funds to help educate underprivileged children in India so they can have a better life.
