Description
If you’re already feel comfortable with the basics of fiction craft — plot, characters, details and specifics — but still want guidance and feedback, this class is a good choice. Instructor Jamey Genna will help you put your evolving knowledge into practice. What more does your story need? What special something ? “Each story is unique, with its own idiosycratic needs,” says Jamey. “Once you’ve made it through a story outline or first draft, you’ve got to start digging deeper and ask yourself, Have I truly tapped into the heart of my story?”That’s what you’ll do in this class: dig deeper and get closer to finding the heart of your story. “Taking a writing isn’t about feeling intimidated by . . . or superior to . . . your classmates,” says Jamey. “It’s about jumping in, getting ideas and words onto the page, and discussing those words with other like-minded souls. This is a hands-on workshop. We’ll read handouts on craft, then dive in and do our own writing. Everyone will bring in at least one or two stories or story excerpts for group feedback and discussion.”
