Description

FARMER DAVE SCHER
Farmer Dave Scher co-founded Beachwood Sparks and All Night Radio. In addition to his previously starry bands, the pedal steel master is known for his performances with Jenny Lewis, Interpol, Elvis Costello, Jonathan Rice, and Vetiver. The pedigree of Dave's projects comes close in hand with his debut album (now out on Kemado), filled with gorgeous lush arrangements and jams that reflect sunny JJ Cale meets Motown lovin'. There's something so quality about Dave's honest marriage of nostalgia and now, with gems like big band opener "Bab'lone Nights" and the head sway vibes of the album's title track. Scher keeps country minded and blends it properly with psych, soul, surf, and tinge of B. Bacharach. "if you’re in the mood to smoke a little weed and go far out, like way far out, Flash Forward to the Good Times will be a perfect choice. Yet there’s an element of big band arrangements peppered with a subtlety of country twang on tracks like 'Flash
Forward 2 the Good Times' and 'Bab’lone Nights.' My favorite songs retreat to his spacey-surfer vibe—'You Pick Me Up' and 'Surf Out Sunset' will definitely be on repeat during summer drives to the beach." --BlackBookMag.com

SEVENTEEN EVERGREEN
"This San Francisco duo's earthy psychedelic rock sounds instantly familiar—maybe because it embraces five decades of West Coast music, from the Beach Boys' baroque harmonies to Pavement's cockeyed arrangements. Is it any wonder they're huge in the U.K., a country with a severe weakness for drifting guitars and woozy jams about floating in space?" --West Coast Report
