Description
Everything Must GoNecessity is the mother of all invention.
In the year 2000 Artist/bike messenger/town drunkard Jake Hout was dragged under a truck, broke his pelvis and tore massive areas of flesh off his legs and torso. This led to an extended period of time lying on the couch on disability and morphine with nothing to do. From this violent injury and subsequent malaise was born the band EVERYTHING MUST GO.
Generally speaking the greater scene of Punk Rock in Oakland at the time was actually just metal, and sucked for the most part besides. The mission of Everything Must Go was to revive some of the showmanship, danger, sexuality and goddamn fun to the Bay Area’s underground music scene.
Within the year the band had released the debut album Apocalipstic on Dead Teenager records, lost and replaced a guitarist and basest, and Jake had garnered a reputation for strapping fireworks to his chest and detonating into the audience, setting band members on fire and breaking his leg on tour in Portland. Without any doubt everyone agreed it was NOT going to last.
Bizarrely that turned out to be wrong! For 8 years now the band has continued to tour release records, injure themselves on stage, even learn a degree of professionalism and fucking rock! Honing the rawer elements of the song writing to create more textured arrangements and a bigger sound and staying true the general philosophy of the bands role as an agent of chaos and instigator of wild fun times.
In 2008 they released the long awaited Sonic Pornography on Calendar of Death records. An album consisting of many now favorites like I Hate Music and Songs About Killing People along with newer songs written in the studio, like Alcoholic Blitzkrieg and Rock and Roll Jihad. The band recorded and mixed the album entirely them self’s, and released it in vinyl. Like Rock and Roll should be!
Through the unforgiving road of the underworld, in a story wrought with both musical and personal triumphs and tragedies, this band has persevered, danced with extinction, survived and thrived. It’s a motherfucking institution now. The antidisestablishmentarianistic iconoclast…
EVERYTHING MUST GO.
