Description
As the title of his EP, "Junk Food and Vegetables," would suggest, Erk Tha Jerk balances opposites. At once, his style is vulnerable and brash, grimy and polished, contemplative and filled with pitch-perfect punchlines and references to the reefer. His biggest single, "What That Dat Ass Do" is a nasty, swaggering club banger that jumps around a flawless, simple, twangy bassline. The Richmond rapper can stand with one foot on each end of dozens of spectrums because he is a dizzyingly talented artist. His flow leaps and stomps on bass-heavy futuristic soul beats, skipping through undulating tempos and switching styles with casual ease. (JF)
