Description
Dubbed "Portland's French Troubadour," this native Parisian has crafted exactly the sound that one would expect from such a nickname. Smoky vocals sung in his native tongue backed by accordion suggest the rich street culture of cosmopolitan Europe, yet the lap-steel guitar that carries the melody in songs like "Dehors c'est l'Amerique (Outside it's America)" would be at home in Allman Brothers track. Such cultural dissonance could fail in the hands of a weaker artist, but Kaiser manages to balance such antipodes with grace creating an eclectic sound with echoes of Jacques Brel and Eric Clapton alike.
