Description

Try something new! This fun exploratory workshop is perfect for artists of all abilities.

Create original prints using encaustics or ‘wax paint’ combined with mixed media. Students will learn to paint with non-toxic wax pigments on a hot surface to create original prints. This process will be repeated to build up layers, depth and transparency. Students will be shown how to add layers of prints, drawings, and photographs to wood panel, canvas, and paper surfaces. Students will further develop their work by incorporating other materials on top of the existing layers, such as cold wax, oil pastels, and oil glazes. While exploring the intrinsic nature of the materials, their behaviors, and properties, students will be able to manipulate and combine these techniques in various media.
