The Berkeley Times (Junior edition)

Emeryville, California is a small fast growing community with quaint shops and a growing community just off the Bay Bridge and I-80 next to Berkeley, California. The city is perfect for a small yet growing company, Emeryville Records who opened its doors early 2010.

Emeryville Records is owned by two local residents of the Bay area, Troy K. Miller (founder) and Candance Maybry who was brought on as a full partner in 2010.
Troy decided Emeryville would be perfect location not only to start a business but give it the same name as the location of the business. “We thought the city was going to give us some static about using the same name of the city. After Candy did some research, she found the city has no legal ties to the name “Emeryville”. “I decided to use the name I’ve been using to get the business off the ground and hope the city wouldn’t come back to bite us” Troy says.
As of Dec 11, 2010, Emeryville Records is no longer accepting application Bio's during their 20 Demo acceptance days. The small record company received over 500 CD's, 1000 digital files and 100 mail in's during their Demo days at Emeryville California.
“We were surprised to see the number of artist who fit the style of music we were looking for” says Troy.
Emeryville Records started with two unsigned bands in the second quarter of 2010 , with gross sales of 175.000 then quickly doubling that amount by the time of this pressing.
By the first quarter of 2012, Troy is looking forward to sales in excess of 2 million then doubling that by the end of 2013.
The BBB (Better Business Bureau) of Emeryville has recognized "Emeryville Records" as one of the city’s most up and coming business in the local area.
Emeryville Records is looking to rent a 6500 sq. foot office space just off I-80 and Powell Street. Troy says “this will put us directly to a location where we have quick access to the smaller music shops, recording studios and a quick 15 minute drive to Oakland Airport. This will provide not only quick access to the airport, but also quick flights to LA, Seattle and the Phoenix area that we hope to use in the near future for our recording needs”.
