Description
SOMArts will celebrate 30 years of exhibitions, theater, and support services for the arts, with a fond look back at the San Francisco Art Festivals of the 1970’s. The director of these events was the beloved sculptor and Arts Commission program director, Elio Benvenuto, who was personally responsible for inspiring many of the established artists and musicians of today. A retrospective of Benvenuto’s paintings and sculptures will hang in the Main Gallery, overlooking a re-creation of one of the Art Festival pavilions, still in SOMArts’ possession. This exhibition is co-curated by SOMArts Gallery Director Betsie Miller-Kusz and Technical Services Director Ernest Rivera.
