Description
This full-length choral concert, titled “Eine Kleine Afternoonmusik,” features classical and pop music by German and American composers which will lift your soul and tickle your funnybone. The classical program ranges from the sublime “Vier Gesänge, Opus 17” for Women's Chorus (sung by Men's ensemble), 2 Horns and Harp by Johannes Brahms, to the modern yet haunting “Songs of Sweet Accord” for Men's Chorus and Harp by Donald St. Pierre. The pop program includes classic numbers by Kurt Weill such as “Lost in the Stars”, as well as several selections by the wildly popular Berlin group, The Comedian Harmonists, including their heartrending “Guter Mond” and their hilarious “Onkel Bumba.”This Saturday concert is at 2 pm and will be held in the Metropolitan Community Church (MCC) sanctuary at 150 Eureka Street in San Francisco. This concert benefits the Metropolitan Community Foundation's partnership with the Harvey Milk Civil Rights Academy and its Read-Aloud Program.
