Description

With all of the press this band received in 2009, it seems unnecessary, and indeed almost too easy to write up a short bio for Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros. Yet, there is still so much to say and to write about this group of traveling minstrels. For example, there are not enough words to describe the way their songs touch the hearts of their audiences and the mass sing-alongs they inspire. Their rousing tune “Home” has been known to bring tears of joy to the eyes of even the most jaded of men and women, while “Om Nashi Me” can subdue and entrance the most vocal of crowds.
These songs, and 11 others, are included on their first release Up From Below, and it seems to be only fitting of listening to on traditional vinyl. Though the group’s enigmatic leader, Alex Ebert, used to run with the pop group Ima Robot, it is with banjos, mandolins, accordions and trumpets that he currently heralds his followers. And he isn’t doing it alone, but with the help of nine other pied pipers, each playing a different tune but in harmony and with a resounding "HURRAH!"
