San Jose Jazz's Do You Know San Jose? series continues, with the LA Afrobeat/Latin alternative powerhouse Mexico68, San Jose's own Cado on the SJZ Boombox Truck in the SoFA arts district in downtown San Jose. The event includes a beer garden featuring the signature brews of Santa Clara Valley Brewing and food by Fire & Rice.

The 10-piece Mexico68 is a rising Los Angeles Afrobeat band profoundly inspired by the creative genius of Nigerian musician and activist Fela Kuti and his classic bands, Afrika 70 and Egypt 80. The group pays respect to those originators of Afrobeat by faithfully executing their original music while infusing it with a unique energy that reflects LA's Latinx music scene. Mexico68 has shared the stage with Lee Scratch Perry, The Abyssinians, Red Baraat, Chicano Batman, Jungle Fire, Ethio Cali, Western Standard Time, Anthony B, Pato Banton, The Lions, Buyepongo, Monophonics and many more.

San Jose guitarist Cado Dos Santos brings Brazil with him wherever he plays. His passion for music crosses many genres and styles. Whether or not you understand the language of his songs, it is clear that he is a poet telling beautifully sculpted stories. His music transcends barriers with sources including rock, samba jazz, alternative and bossa nova.

Do You Know San Jose? is San Jose Jazz's new initiative that explores the music, people and special places of San Jose, spotlighting the important role of live music as a part of its cultural identity. April through October, 2019, 15 events will pop up in every corner of the city featuring a variety of musicians and cultural activities.
