Every first Friday Direct to Earth takes on Oakland's Art Murmur with electronic music artists from near and far. Located just steps away from the Murm's action packed block party, the Paradiso Lounge is where we will be twisting heads and layering sounds all night! David Javate // killswitch sf

David Javate (pronounced ha-VA-tay) is a San Francisco based DJ and producer. Brought up new wave, industrial and acid house, David has always been interested in exploring the grey area between organic and synthetic sounds.
As a veteran DJ from Washington DC, David explores deeper genres with a style which acknowledges house and techno’s pioneers while also welcoming today’s innovators. What results is a unique style which strives to be forward thinking yet exposing the timeliness of electronic dance music. Showing the diversity of being able to play during different moods of the night, David always strives to take the listener on a journey, and make an audio collage which moves the mind and body.
Over the years David has shared the decks with DJs such as Derrick May, Stacey Pullen, Ken Ishii, John Tejada, Mark Henning, Mike Huckaby, and Kenny Larkin, to name a few. David holds residency at Killswitch, an event focusing on underground techno and house, and has recently played at San Francisco’s techno standard, [KONTROL], in addition to Portland’s Closer Electronic Music Festival. When not DJ-ing, David is in the studio working on solo projects and collaborating with a number of San Francisco producers, such as Nude Photo Music artist Gold Code, and Fedora’s Mike Perry.

Guidewire (live) // Fierce animals

The Guidewire project celebrates the fusion of two individuals and their electronic music influence. Exploring the minimal side of techno, Guidewire appreciates the smallest detail. They inch closer to a refined methodology and continue to investigate the machines which bridge the gap between mind and sound.

Withheld // Coal, Kabutomushi

Withheld is Brennan Perry, an artist from the San Francisco area. Although the music he plays varies from simplistic minimal techno to intricate tech house, his style is dark, powerful, and heavy but not overwhelming.
The majority of his free time is used for producing, where he can take his knowledge of sound and use it to create music of his own. With a solid foundation in techno, minimal, and tech house, his songs tends to be quite simple yet have an undeniable bounce to them.

Justin Peoples //

Producing since 2004, Justin Peoples has followed his ear for progressive techno from Southern California, around the SF bay area, and to his founding of Club-a-Club Recordings in 2010. Now living in Oakland, Justin has been practicing a more refined sound than ever, Mr. Peoples is excited to bring his exquisite taste in deep minimal beats direct to earth.

NDK // Tech Dolphin

NDK is the current moniker for Andy Kershaw (formerly known as 'Andy Kaotik'). DJing for the better part of 16 years, he first made his mark in the Boston and New England area - appearing on almost every lineup in the heyday of the dance scene there. He was a founding member of one of New England's most respected event production outfits, Audio Dream Control, as well as having a role in the formation of many nights that continue today. Relocation to San Francisco in 2008 renewed his drive in DJing and involvement in the underground - currently a resident DJ with the Bay Area's fastest rising outfit, Tech Dolphin.

Click.Boom (live) // Patrick Gil and Hydroplane

A love for deep sounds and analog gear has led to a partnership between Hydroplane and Patrick Gil. Separate production talents in their own right, the whole is even better than the sum of the parts. Expect a combination of improv, precision, hardware, software, groove, and ambience in a group that wants to see dancing music brought to a newer level.

Aleks // Geomagnetic, dblstacked

While most 12 year olds are busy playing video games and thinking what after-school sport they might want to try, Aleks took hold of his first set of turntables and grew up on the decks. Born Alexander Lee Limon from San Luis Obispo California, he taught himself how to mix records using duplicate copies of a hip hop album.
San Francisco met Aleks with open arms as he set down to plan the next stage of his career. By now having over 11 years experience under his belt, it was no surprise he was offered gigs right at his arrival in March 2003. Since then Aleks has played with some of Northern California's best production companies. Although Aleks has now been DJing for over half his life, he has taken his love for music to the next level by producing his own tracks.
Known for his desire to spread his innovative sound & lend a helping hand for a technical question, Aleks is well-respected for his talents among fellow DJs, as well as his ability to rock the crowd. His passion cannot be denied, and how far he will take it knows no end.

Marija Dunn //

Marija Dunn is an International Dj, firing up the dance-floors, from Europe, to South Africa, and the U.S... She was born in Belgrade Serbia, and grew up during the electronic music boom happening there in late nineties. She discovered the dance floor at the age of fourteen, and immediately became a part of electronic music scene and club culture in Belgrade. Since the beginning she had a desire to be on the other side of the dance floor and make the difference in peoples lives through making them dance. She now lives in Scottsdale, Arizona, and San Francisco, California, and is a regular guest Dj at some of the most fashionable venues there, such as, Theodore Hotel, Myst nightclub, Cream Stereo Lounge, White House, Revolver, PCL.
