Description
Get ready to celebrate summer, because that's exactly what we're doing with our new exhibit, Dog Days, which will be on view from July 13 through August 28, 2010. We hope you'll join us at a reception for the artists on Saturday, July 17, from 2 pm until 5 pm. Unfortunately, no companion doggies allowed in the building.Corden|Potts Gallery is located at 49 Geary Street, Suite 211, in San Francisco. The gallery is open 11 am to 5:30 pm Tuesdays through Saturdays, and until 7:30 pm on the first Thursday of each month.
The term "dog days" is often used to refer to the hottest, most sultry days of summer. The expression dates back to Greek and Roman times and refers to Sirius, the Dog Star, which was at its brightest during the hottest months of the year.
However, since we rarely enjoy weather appropriate to the term here in San Francisco, we decided to literally celebrate man's (and woman's) best friend. The exhibit includes a selection of wonderful canine images from an international roster of photographers:
Giacomo Brunelli, London, UK
Susan Burnstine, Los Angeles, CA
Mark Citret, Daly City, CA
Michael Crouser, Brooklyn, NY
Frank Espada, San Francisco
Susie Forrester, Stroudsburg PA
Alan George, San Francisco
Cig Harvey, Boston, MA
Russell Joslin, Minneapolis, MN
Bill Mattick, Berkeley, CA
Raymond Meeks, Portland, OR
Aline Smithson, Los Angeles, CA
Vee Speers, Paris, FR
Ann Texter, Georgetown, TX
Natalie Young, Los Angeles, CA
