Description

dNaga, a unique ensemble made up of multi-cultural/generational dance artists, will be
presenting three works in progress at Dimond Branch Library on Saturday, August 4th at 2pm.
In my SMALL house in OAKLAND is a dance art experience with voice over of Oaklanders
talking about civil rights. Their stories are real, personal experiences confronting challenging
topics with love and inspiration. These stories offer an insightful look into what it is like to live
in Oakland as a person of color.
PEACE about life beautifully portrays personal peace through the wide lens of those living with
Parkinson’s disease. PEACE about life isn’t only about Parkinson’s; it is about our
commonalities as human beings. The central inspiration of the work stems from the personal
stories of the dancers with Parkinson’s. Music and dance can unlock the creative spirit in all of us
whether we have Parkinson’s or not. Claudine Naganuma has created a poignant, insightful,
richly moving work integrating a multigenerational cast into an artistically compelling
performance. This unique cast offers a powerful experience that will nourish and stimulate your
heart and mind.
REVEAL Freedom is inspired by the life and work of renowned human rights activist Yuri
Kochiyama. Performed by a multi-cultural ensemble of 15 dancers, REVEAL Freedom is an
intense and exuberant glimpse into the life of an activist who has continuously embodied
personal freedom over a period of 60 years.
