Description

This is the 2nd exhibit curated by the Santa Cruz Different Directions collective. Susan Hillyard's large sepia toned series, "Wild Horses of New Mexico," evokes the romantic west, deftly balancing both the gentle and wild facets of these magnificent animals. Using a medium-format toy camera with an unpredictable plastic lens, Susan Lysik looks at the Boardwalk and other local attractions with an eye for startling color as well as the drama of the traditional black and white print. The playful instinct evident in "beneath the moon and under the sun," gail nichols' personal look at the world, takes the viewer on a whirlwind global adventure through the far east, Europe and the United States, offering a shimmering mosaic of color and light. Virginia Scott's thoughtful work is a visual treat exploring the magic moments of light to convey the gentle beauty of Santa Cruz, as seen at dawn, dusk, and through the summer fog.
