Deborah Bell and Eric Michael Corrigan
February 29 – March 30, 2012
Opening Reception: Wednesday, February 29, 2012, 5:30 - 7:30 PM
Andrea Schwartz Gallery is pleased to announce a two-person exhibition featuring new work by Deborah Bell and Eric Michael Corrigan, with an opening reception held on Wednesday, February 29 from 5:30 – 7:30 pm.
“I am interested in the idea of everything in nature being made of essentially the same energy and light.” --Deborah Bell
Deborah Bell examines the interconnectedness of all things to one another in this new body of mixed media collage paintings. Using multiple layers of paint and circular collage forms as her personal language, Bell explores her curiosity to molecular biology and plays with making the ‘invisible’ visible. Each new painting is an adventure as Bell continues to find her way to what it is she wants to see.
“My work delivers an elusive narrative of the complex social confinements of culture and consumerism, the banal and original, tangible and intangible.”
--Eric Michael Corrigan
Eric Michael Corrigan, in this new body of work, explores the theme of social confinement with culture and consumerism. Simple text, symbols, extreme brushwork and texture communicate social tensions, desires, frustrations and fears. Corrigan displaces recognizable objects and figures exposing the dislocation between past and present and between known and unknown.
