Description
The truth, R&B genius, melodious voice from heaven; no matter the description given none can completely consume or cover all of the vocal talents that lie within this one man….Dave Hollister. Dave’s career has been the text book path of one that began in the background but his talent propelled him to his solo career as we know it, one man, one mic and one band creating one night of R&B bliss.Mr. Hollister began his career as a well sought out backup singer for many distinguished artist of our time. Dave served as a vocal support to the likes of Phil Collins & Toto, Jonathan Butler, Tupac, Patti Labelle, Mary J. Blige and many others. Thereafter Mr. Hollister was approach by Teddy Riley a man that was coined in many rights as the trailblazer of the “New Jack Swing”. Teddy had formed a group by the name of Blackstreet and culminated the group by making Dave the lead vocalist. Blackstreet went on to make chart topping music that has nestled itself in the R&B catalogs of the must haves. Their debut album, Blackstreet, was a platinum-selling success, featuring the singles "Booti Call", "Before I Let You Go", and "Joy", two of which were Top 40 hits ("Before I Let You Go" hit the Top 10). It is impossible to suppress a talent of this magnitude and in that very key is why we now have Dave Hollister “THE Male Vocalist”.
His first solo project was released in 1999 entitled Ghetto Hymns. This album went gold rendering the single “My Favorite Girl”. This single went on to make top the ten of the R&B charts. This album served as a notice to the industry and the world that Mr. Hollister was here. He went on to complete seven additional albums over the years. During that time is when Dave released the highly successful project “Chicago 85”. It was on this album that the single “One Woman Man” was the chart topping single, also reaching the top ten R&B charts. In 2013 Dave became ¼ of the gospel power group United Tenors. As expected by the masses the group debuted on Billboard at #1.
These accomplishments and more were solidified in many ways including the distinguished honor of receiving two Grammy’s. All of this and much more that now brings us to current date. It has been Dave’s talent and the public’s desire and hunger for real talent that has thrust Mr. Hollister back into the studio to complete his soon to come new project. No matter the description that you may try to use to explain his gift you can call him Mr. “I Am Soul”.
