Description
Camera 3 will be screening "Dark Horse," as well as a Q and A session with director and film maker Todd Solondz.Dark Horse is a movie about two people, Abe and Miranda. Abe is a 30 year old who collects toys, works at his father's business and still lives with his parents. Trying to get rid of his "dark horse" status, he starts dating a pursuing a relationship with Miranda, who is the dark horse of her family due to her heavy medication taking. Miranda, out of desperation, decides to marry Abe. From there, things begin to unravel.
Starring Selma Blair, Christopher Walken, Jordan Gelber, Mia Farrow, and Justin Bartha.
Todd Solondz has won an array of film festival awards for his movies, like the the Grand Jury Prize at the 1996 Sundance Film Festival for "Welcome to the Dollhouse." He won the FIPRESCI prize in 1998 at the Cannes Film Festival for "Happiness." "Happiness" was also nominated for a Golden Globe that year for Best Screenplay.
Dark Horse was nominated for the Best Picture/Golden Lion award at the Venice Film Festival in 2011.
Solondz is most famous for his independent film "Welcome to the Dollhouse," which was also his debut film.
