Description
San Francisco quartet DaMaDa plays energetic transcultural music that is at its creative best live. Vocalist/dancer Luo Danna brings roots music from her native China to life, fueled by a versatile group of Bay Area instrumentalists: electric guitarist Marc Schmitz, percussionist/drummer Dave Mihaly, and electric bassist Michael Fortes. On any given night this group can move from Beijing funk-opera to orchestral Zappa redux to Miao tribal soul-folk to Weather Report Mandarin rap and land on a watery King Crimson ostinato dream fugue. Original compositions and arrangements by Schmitz and Mihaly distinguish every DaMaDa performance. If Luo Danna's surgical vocal acupuncture doesn't electrify your cranial neurons, you came on a rare night. Just remember to breathe.More info:
