Description

Czech composers have had a major influence on western music and you will hear why as the San Jose Wind Symphony performs spellbinding works by Dvorak, Smetana, Fucik, Weinburger and Nelhybel.
Our guest artists are the ground breaking ensemble MANA Saxophone Quartet performing Concerto after Dvorak by David DeBoor Canfield. Championed as Saxophone Ambassadors by Chamber Music Magazine, MANA embodies its namesake as a force advocating for the saxophone in classical music. Using vintage instruments built to the acoustical specifications of the saxophone’s inventor, Adolphe Sax, MANAs impassioned performances offer a vivid reimagining of the saxophones nineteenth-century heritage – a refined aesthetic characterized by intrinsic warmth, dynamic range of character, and absolute versatility.
Audiences rave about the outstanding acoustics, easy parking and accessibility of McAfee Center for the Performing Arts in Saratoga. This afternoon concert is a chance to experience wonderful music in an intimate, 550-seat concert venue. http://www.sjws.org
