Description
Hey Friends, Lovers, Leaders, and Allies:Please join us for our third rendition of Culture Fuck featuring the dynamic, outspoken, fabulously femme, sex dipped in brilliance, politically radical, poet-filmmaker-dancer-organizer extraordinaire: Kebo Drew!! Kebo Drew epitomizes the tender space where warrior meets delicate, where vulnerable meets dangerous, where intellect meets passion. Her words are raw, naked, and strong. She will leave your jaw firm, your heart pounding, your body throbbing, your fingers itching to write (amongst other things).
All the donations will be going to Queer Womyn of Color Media Arts Project (www.qwocmap.com), a radical arts-social justice organization that teaches queer womyn and trans people of color how to make films - for free!!! They also put on the famous Queer Womyn of Color Film Festival - also free - every June in San Francisco. This year's will be at the Yerba Buena Center for The Arts June 8-10th.
Culture Fuck is a feminist, anti-racist performance space for radical outcasts, passionate queers, gender liberators, intellectual non-conformists, and everyone else who loves to break rules and subvert social propriety.
Arrive by 7:30pm to meet your host and sign up for the performance list.
Performance begins at 8pm. Our feature will perform after the first five open mic's - so be sure to arrive early.
You are welcome to perform spoken word, poetry, prose, music, comedy, theatre, and screen films (please let us know via email or message at least one week in advance to screen films). Please bring your zines, books, chapbooks, art, jewelry, albums, and other merchandise to sell or distribute.
Sonoma Coffee Cafe is generous enough to host this event, so we full-heartedly encourage you to bring generous appetites (their food and drinks are fucking delicious) and generous wallets!!!
For you SF folks who are longing to sample some of this East Bay Culture Fucking, Sonoma Coffee Cafe is just a few minutes away from Downtown Berkeley Bart!
