Description
Between the hardcore movement of the early 80s and the pop punk explosion of the 90s, there were a couple of years in punk rock that followers had a little tougher time pinning down. San Jose’s Cova harks back to this free spirited era, when the Replacements and Husker Du were demonstrating that the line separating good, sweaty rock & roll and punk rock barely existed. Cova writes raw, catchy heartfelt songs, so whether you call it punk rock or just rock & roll does not really matter. It certainly is not the formulaic three-chord sound currently associated with pop-punk.
