Description
Jeffrey Sachs is Director of the Earth Institute, where he is also a professor of sustainable development. The unconventional and impassioned economist advocates combining economic development with environmental sustainability. Sachs has analyzed challenges of economic development, poverty alleviation, and globalization for more than twenty years. From 2002 to 2006, Sachs was Special Advisor to United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan and Director of the U.N. Millennium Project. Sachs is also President and Co-Founder of Millennium Promise Alliance, a nonprofit organization aimed at ending extreme global poverty. A tireless advocate for poverty alleviation in developing countries, Sachs has previously served as an economic advisor to governments in Latin America, Eastern Europe, Asia, Africa, and the former Soviet Union. He is a prolific writer of scholarly articles and bestselling books, including The End of Poverty.More Info
