After ten years in the making, Precita Eyes Muralists premiers Street Art San Francisco: Mission Muralismo. The book features a foreward by Carlos Santana and contributions by over 200 artists and writers, many of whom will gather at the Precita Eyes Muralists Gala & Book Signing this autumn to celebrate the completion and sign copies of this unique record of the San Francisco Mission Mural Movement.The theme, “Community Art from the Heart,” embodies the essence of Precita Eyes’ work of enriching and beautifying urban environments for over three decades. Attendees will experience the spirit of community muralism first hand through a participatory performance mural painted during the gala.
The night also features live and silent auctions of the 2009 Iconic Mural Details Collection by Bay Area muralists and celebrity artwork from notables, such as Senator Diane Feinstein and authors Ron and Colin Turner. There will also be cocktails and live music for attendees to enjoy. The proceeds of this event will go to support Precita Eyes' programs.
A cornerstone of San Francisco’s rich artistic heritage, Precita Eyes Muralists invite the local and visiting public to attend this special evening of book signing, art, cocktails and live music, and join in celebration and support of “Community Art from the Heart.”
