Description

Comedy Werx is the fund-raising arm of Stage Werx Theatre, an intimate underground space that is home to some of the finest playwrights, solo performers, circus artists, and stand-up comics in the Bay Area.

Here's a sobering statistic: over the past year, 10,000 arts organizations across the nation were forced to close because they had exhausted their funding. There was no other option for them.

Stage Werx perseveres but they are badly in need of necessary upgrades, which include new curtains, a light board, electrical work, and the holy grail of improvements, a basement bathroom (clouds part, angels sing). It could be that the angels have arrived in the form of the talented performers who have volunteered their time to help us raise the needed money.

Only a handful of intimate theaters like Stage Werx remain in San Francisco. These stages have historically been the spawning ground for not only new artists but new art forms. We appreciate your help in allowing us to continue this tradition. We'll also be featuring local services and items in a nightly raffle.
