Description

After a disappointing 2011 the prospect for clean tech IPOs may be looking up in 2012. The Renewable Energy Group chalked up a successful IPO in January and others are waiting in the wings. One concern hovering over startups is how much reliant they are on government mandates or subsidies. Another is whether Silicon Valley venture capitalists are pulling back after realizing it is tougher to make their hurdle rates in the slow-moving and capital intensive power sector. We’ll take a look at the supply and demand side of energy production and delivery and what technologies and sectors are hot. We’ll also look at job creation and what skills are in demand by fast-moving startups aiming to revolutionize how California and America will power the future.
