Description

Join us for a rare conversation between graphic novelists Chris Ware (Jimmy Corrigan: The Smartest Kid on Earth) and Charles Burns (Black Hole, X’ed Out), both of whom have transcended the genre. These artists have earned fan followings by redefining and expanding the potential of comics, and they each up the ante with brilliant new works. Ware’s Building Stories is a boxed set of little books of various shapes and sizes – with no deliberate beginning or end – that imagines the inhabitants of a three-story Chicago apartment building. Burns brings us The Hive, a fractured Burroughs-esque cavort through ’70s Seattle hipsterdom.

"Ware is the most versatile and innovative artist the medium has known."
–Dave Eggers

"The work of Charles Burns is a vision that’s both horrifying and hilariously funny, and which he executes with cold, ruthless clarity."
–R. Crumb
