Description
Alto saxophonist Charles McPherson is an undisputed master of bop. While growing up in Detroit, he studied jazz with Barry Harris, and later on in the 1960s he collaborated frequently with Harris, as well as Charles Mingus, Lonnie Hillyer and George Coleman.He was recently featured at the Lincoln Center where he showcased his own compositions with a seven piece ensemble.
He has toured with many renowned jazz performers, including Jay McShann, Nat Adderly, Lionel Hampton, Bill Eckstein and more.
McPherson embodies the finest in mainstream jazz with energetic swing, daring improvisation, and true feeling.
