Description

In February 2013 the Potrero Branch of the San Francisco Public Library will hold an exhibition dedicated to one of Potrero Hill’s few remaining examples of industrial architecture: the Cor-o-van moving company’s structures at 16th, 17th and Mississippi Streets. You are invited to participate in this exhibition by submitting art that is inspired by these buildings, their history, and their potential for adaptive reuse.
This exhibition will feature work of various media (text, painting, photography, printmaking / digital arts, websites) and approaches (illustrative, abstract, conceptual). You are encouraged to submit work that:

• Features these structures
• Is inspired by the buildings’ historic connection to the Pacific Rolling Mill Co.
• Considers the buildings’ adaptation to shifting zoning requirements from heavy industry to light industry to urban mixed use
• Examines the buildings’ contemporary relationship to the neighborhoods of Showplace Square and Potrero Hill in terms of form or function
• Envisions the buildings’ potential for architectural adaptive reuse

Deadline: December 10th 2012 (Exhibition will open Feb. 23rd 2013 and will run for a month).
Requirements: No submissions larger than 54” X 54” Maximum of 3 digital images may be submitted. Include an artist’s statement, limit 1000 characters.
