Description
Irwin Shaw's 1936 play Bury the Dead is set in "the second year of the war that is to begin tomorrow night." When a group of soldiers attempt to bury a half dozen men killed in battle, the corpses rise up from their body bags, refusing to be interred. This act of posthumous civil disobedience sends military leaders into panic mode. Journalists want to write about it, but editors fear the effect it might have on the nation's perception of and support for the war.Directed by Buddy Butler and presented by the SJSU Department of TV-Radio-Film-Theatre, March 12, 13, 17, 18, 19, 20 at 7 p.m. in the University Theatre, 5th and San Fernando in downtown San Jose.
