Description
Package Overview:Do you love music and distinctive rhythms? Have you ever wanted to produce your own beats without having to learn to play an instrument?
Experience the world of beat boxing under the instruction of Karim IIiya, an SF local who has 10 years of beat boxing experience, and has performed with musicians such as Lucas and Micah Nelson, Marty Dread, Jahlectrik, Eachbox, Francisco, and Syzygy.
A form of vocal percussion, beat boxing is the art of producing beats, rhythms, and musical sounds with one’s mouth, lips, tongue, and voice. With this amazing opportunity, couples will learn about the history of beat boxing and the basic tools needed to produce their very own beat box rhythm. In addition, there will be a personal performance by Karim himself at the end of the session.
Details:
During the hour long session, couples will learn about:
The history of beat boxing
The basic fundamentals of producing a simple beat
The coordination of beats and working together to produce a comprehensive beat and rhythm
Each couple will be taught a distinct individual beat to work on individually. After learning the basics, the couples will then demonstrate their beats and perform with the entire group.
At the conclusion, there will be a beat boxing performance by Karim to further demonstrate what can be achieved with more practice.
Note: Couples will first meet outside St. Igatious Church, at Fulton and Parker St. (by the stairs outside the church on the Parker St side)
