In 2012, up-and-coming rapper Kendrick Lamar headlined Stanford's Blackfest. Today everyone and their grandmother is talking about him (And proclaiming that his brilliant LP good kid, m.A.A.d city should have beat Macklemore's The Heist for the best rap album Grammy.) The point is that Stanford's annual Blackfest nabs talented artists just before they become superstars. This year Sevyn Streeter and Adrian Marcel will perform, along with headliner, foul-mouthed Ty Dolla $ign who was recently signed to Wiz Khalifa's record label. (Amulya Datla)(Photos: Alex Stover)
