Description

Black Diamond Mines Regional Preserve was once home to California's most important coal fields. Today, we'll be mining (figuratively) wildflowers in this Bay Area botanical hotspot.

We'll also see the historic Rose Hill Cemetery and the underground Greathouse Visitor Center. This is a moderate hike of about 3 miles with several hundred feet in elevation change, lead by Karen Synowiec and Ken Lavin

WEATHER POLICY:
Rain cancels.

COST:
5$ per vehicle park entrance fee.

WHERE TO MEET:
We'll assemble in the upper parking lot at the end of Somersville Road. There is a restroom and water fountain at the trailhead.

LEADER'S NOTE:
Bring water, snacks, dress in layers, and wear good hiking shoes. Bring poles if you normally use them. If you have any questions about this outing, email Ken Lavin or phone him at 415-543-6771 x321.
