Description
Hammer Theatre Center presents gifted jazz singer and songwriter Quiana Lynell, bringing her heartfelt voice singular in its soul, intensity, and spirit to the South Bay. Raised as a gospel singer and trained in classical voice while attending Louisiana State University, Lynell realigned her vocal ambition towards jazz after sitting in with a friend’s R&B band. She soon became the winner of the Sarah Vaughn International Jazz Vocal Competition, earning her a place singing for trumpeter Terrence Blanchard with his 75-piece orchestra in a Spike Lee Tribute. Now a rising star in the jazz scene, having performed with jazz legends Herbie Hancock, Patti Austin, Bilal, and Ledisi, Lynell has proved she is “a mesmerizing artist able to truly communicate with and captivate the listener” (JAZZIZ). Her debut album "A Little Love" released this year, featuring “a percolating arrangement fusing soul, gospel and jazz” (Billboard).More Info
