Jack London Square Farmers Market has partnered with Ami, Josh, and others of BikeShare EastBay to bring you the latest edition of BikeShare -- a quarterly gathering where cyclists share ideas, skills, and stories in 10-minute presentations.It’s like the TED Conference – for bikes!
The theme this time around is EAT!, and will feature 5 or 6 presentations ranging from how to make a DIY electrolyte recovery drink to stories of bike camping with a recycled tin can stove.
We'll post the speaker line-up as soon as it's ready!
Presentations begin at 11 a.m. on the patio above the farmers’ market. Non-cyclists are encouraged to join!
In keeping with 2nd Sunday "Bike to Market" days at the farmers’ market, our ongoing partners Bay Area Bikes and Spokeland Bike Co-Op will also be here offering:
Free Mechanic Check-ups | 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
A bike mechanic from Bay Area Bikes will be on hand to do bike safety checks and recommend any adjustments. Need something fixed? Bay Area Bikes just opened a service shop alongside their bike rental store here in Jack London Square!
Pedal Powered Ice Cream | 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Check out Spokeland Bike Co-Op’s bike-powered ice-cream maker, sample a scoop, and learn about the non-profit’s bike education space in North Oakland.
Cargo Bike Test-Rides | 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Bay Area Bikes is lending their Yuba Cargo Bike to any cyclist who needs a bigger, sturdier ride to take their groceries home. Leave your bike or a credit card, and take the Yuba for a spin, free of charge! It will also be available for test rides at the market.
Free Bike Shepherd Registration | 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Connect your name and contact info to your bike’s serial number, decrease the chance of theft, and increase the chance of recovering your bike just in case! Registration and information provided by Bay Area Bikes.
Free Raffle | Drawing at noon
Enter all morning, we'll have a drawing at noon for a handful of fun bike and food-related prizes.
The Jack London Square Farmers' Market is open every Sunday from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. along the waterfront at Broadway.
