Description

(Oakland, CA) February 11th, 2010. Seventeen California College of the Arts students respond to the economy with new art exhibited at Oakland’s Hatch Gallery. The show delivers a wide range of media and offers an oasis for thought away from the troubles of the national deficit.

Curated by instructor Michele Pred, the exhibition includes paintings, drawings, photographs, sculpture, illustration, and metal arts. Because of the Economy is part of an ongoing course that introduces students to the professional practices necessary to participate successfully in the art world at large. Today’s emerging artists need every tool available in order to become thoughtful as well as productive members in their field.
