The Royal NoneSuch Gallery is please to present Beauty Forms, an exhibition of new work by Lydia Greer.
Lydia Greer makes literal the actual texture and experience of play by structuring an uneven and inaccurate (hand-made) internal ordering of the external world. Beauty Forms draws from the artist's interest in Fredrich Froebel, the inventor of kindergarten and 'Froebel Gifts', an object making exercise which encouraged geometric thinking and pattern building activity in kindergarten children. Seeing the action of crafting these gifts as a kind of spirituality of form, Greer will revisit the psuedo spirituality of making these objects through labor-intensive cut paper nets, weavings and parquetry, which will be used as lenses to cast shadows from projected videos and light.
